About the event
We are keeping the spirit of the Appalachian culture ALIVE in our children as we respond to the recovery efforts for Hurricane Helene with food and nourishment from this year's harvest! The students and garden staff successfully grew pumpkins, winter squashes, garlic, celery, sorghum, corn and more this past summer season! Since we were not able to host our annual Appalachian Heritage Festival with the community this year due to the devestating flooding in our local area, so we have cooked it all up into lovely meals TO GO for any and all families in the affected areas. We prepared cooking and baking kits with our produce and receipes and community members (who are really good at cooking and baking) volunteered to take the kits and make them into soups and muffins for everybody!
